Their fiercest rivalry is with fellow Quetzaltenango side Xelajú MC in the Derbi de Quetzaltenango - one of the most passionately contested derbies in Guatemalan football.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2024\/2025 campaign - during which this striking home shirt was worn - was Coatepeque's first season back in the second-tier Primera División de Ascenso, following relegation from the top-flight Liga Nacional at the end of the 2023\/2024 season.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Apertura half of the season proved to be a slow-burn affair. Coatepeque were placed in Group A and finished 7th on 24 points from 18 matches with a +1 goal difference - a mid-table return that left the promotion race just out of reach.
