Uruguayan manager Sebastián Abreu, the former Botafogo, Cruzeiro and Uruguay national-team striker who had taken charge in May 2024, led the side through the Apertura 2024 tournament before escalating security issues in Culiacán in the autumn forced the club to relocate all its remaining home matches to Tijuana.
