The club, founded in 1954, play their home matches at the Accra Sports Stadium, which has a capacity of 40,000. Currently, Great Olympics compete in the Ghana Premier League, the top division of football in the country. The club have won this competition twice, in 1970 and 1974. They maintain a fierce local rivalry with fellow Ghana Premier League side Accra Hearts of Oak.
