AZ ALKMAAR – AWAY SHIRT 2012/2013

Alkmaar Zaanstreek (AZ) are based in the city of Alkmaar in Northern Holland and are famously nicknamed De Kaaskoppen (The Cheeseheads), a nod to the city’s historic cheese markets. The club played their home matches at the AFAS Stadion.

AZ wore this smart away shirt during the 2012/2013 season, a campaign that would prove to be a mix of domestic struggle and cup success. Managed by Gertjan Verbeek, the team showed resilience despite inconsistent league form.

This shirt, manufactured by Macron, was worn during Alkmaar's campaign in the Eredivisie where they endured a difficult campaign, finishing 10th in the table and falling short of the European qualification places through the league.

However, the season was redeemed in cup competition, as AZ lifted the KNVB Cup, defeating PSV Eindhoven 2–1 in the final - securing silverware and a place in European competition.

On the European stage, AZ competed in the UEFA Europa League and produced an impressive run to the quarter-finals, eliminating Anzhi Makhachkala before eventually being knocked out by Benfica.
