Chivas de Guadalajara are one of the most storied football clubs in Mexico, founded in 1906 by a group of Belgian and French students under the name Unión Football Club before settling on Club Deportivo Guadalajara in 1923. Affectionately known as Chivas (Spanish for "goats" - a 1948 newspaper jibe the club took as a compliment) or El Rebaño Sagrado (The Sacred Flock), they hold the unique distinction in Mexican football of fielding only players of Mexican descent. Home is the Estadio Akron in Zapopan.

The 2024/2025 campaign, in which this smart away shirt was worn, was a Liga MX season of two distinct halves under three different head coaches. Argentine Fernando Gago began the Apertura in charge before walking away in October to take over Boca Juniors; interim Arturo Ortega oversaw a 9th-place regular-season finish that ended with a 2-1 Play-In defeat to crosstown rivals Atlas. The Clausura was a bit more disappointing. They finished 11th and missed out on the playoffs.

Outings in the Concacaf Champions Cup and Leagues Cup both ended early.

Roberto "Piojo" Alvarado led the line, finishing as the club's leading scorer with five Liga MX goals in each half-season - ten in total for 2024/2025 - alongside 8 league assists.
