CZECH REPUBLIC – HOME SHIRT 2016
The Czech Republic national team, formerly part of Czechoslovakia, carry a proud footballing heritage and have long been respected as a competitive force in European football. As Czechoslovakia, they won the 1976 European Championship and reached the 1962 FIFA World Cup final, while the modern Czech side has enjoyed notable success of its own, including a run to the EURO 1996 final - which was their first competition as an independent nation - and consistent appearances at major tournaments since.
This legacy has been shaped by outstanding players such as Pavel Nedvěd, Karel Poborský, Petr Čech, Tomáš Rosický and Milan Baroš.
In 2016, the Czech Republic wore a bold red home shirt that reflected the national colours. That summer, the Czechs competed at EURO 2016 in France, facing a challenging group that included Spain, Croatia and Turkey. Despite showing resilience, they were unable to progress beyond the group stage, drawing with Croatia but losing to both Spain and Turkey in a tough campaign.
As of 2026, the Czech Republic are pushing to secure their place at the 2026 World Cup after a competitive qualifying campaign. While automatic qualification remains a challenge, they are firmly in contention for a playoff spot, where their experience and organisation could prove decisive. Should they make it to the tournament, the Czechs will be aiming to reach the knockout stages for the first time as an independent nation - a milestone that would mark a significant achievement for the modern era of the team.
