Founded on 19 July 2016 at a meeting in the Central Military Club in Sofia, CSKA 1948 rose rapidly through the Bulgarian football pyramid. They advanced from the fourth-tier A OFG Sofia to the top flight in just four seasons, failing to secure promotion only once along the way.

This third shirt was worn during the 2024/2025 season, when CSKA 1948 comfortably avoided the relegation play-offs, finishing 9 points clear of danger.
