GLASGOW RANGERS – HOME SHIRT 2021/2022
Rangers Football Club, known as the Gers, are a professional football club based in Glasgow, Scotland, competing in the Scottish Premiership. Founded in 1872, they are one of the oldest clubs in world football and, by domestic league titles won, the most successful. They play their home matches at Ibrox Stadium and share one of football's most fierce and storied rivalries with Glasgow Celtic in the Old Firm derby. The 2021/2022 season marked the club's 150th anniversary - a milestone reflected directly in this home shirt.
Manufactured by British brand Castore, the shirt is built on Rangers' classic royal blue base with white vertical pinstripes and a V-neck collar inspired by iconic designs from the club's 1950s and 1960s kits. In a nod to the anniversary, the club's scroll crest and all manufacturer and sponsor logos are rendered in gold rather than the usual white. The shirt features a ribbon reading "1872 – 150 Years – 2022" while the five stars represent the club's achievement of fifty league titles.
The season itself was one of turbulence and triumph in equal measure. Rangers entered the campaign as defending champions following their historic unbeaten title win in 2020/2021, but Steven Gerrard's departure to Aston Villa in November triggered a period of instability that ultimately cost them the Premiership, finishing four points behind Celtic.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst was appointed as his replacement and oversaw a remarkable European run - Rangers advanced to the UEFA Europa League final, defeating Borussia Dortmund, Braga, and RB Leipzig along the way, before narrowly losing to Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties in Seville. The Scottish Cup was also claimed, defeating Hearts 2–0 in the final at Hampden Park to salvage domestic silverware from a memorable season.
