1. FC Kaiserslautern is a historic German sports club based in Kaiserslautern, Rhineland-Palatinate. Founded on 2 June 1900, the club celebrates over 125 years of footballing history. They play their home matches at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion, which can hold up to 49,327 spectators. The stadium was renamed in 1985 in honor of Fritz Walter, captain of the West Germany team that won the 1954 World Cup, who spent his entire playing career at Kaiserslautern.

Kaiserslautern were founding members of the Bundesliga and remained in the top flight uninterrupted from 1963 to 1996. Over their history, they have won four German championships, two DFB-Pokals, and one DFL-Supercup, ranking them among Germany’s most successful clubs - they currently sit 11th in the all-time Bundesliga table.

On the European stage, Kaiserslautern reached the Champions League quarter-finals in 1999 and made two UEFA Cup semi-final appearances. The club also holds a unique record: they are the only team to win the German championship as a newly promoted side, achieving this feat in the 1997/1998 season.

This classic Kappa away shirt was worn during the 2004/2005 Bundesliga season, in which Kaiserslautern finished 12th. The standout moment of the campaign came in the DFB-Pokal, when striker Carsten Jancker scored 6 goals in a single 15–0 victory over fifth-tier FC Schönberg 95, setting the German record for most goals in a DFB-Pokal match. Jancker ended the season as the club’s top scorer with 10 goals - more than half coming from that one extraordinary match!

The season was turbulent off the pitch as well. Manager Kurt Jara resigned before the end of the campaign due to irreconcilable differences with the club management and was replaced by Michael Henke.
