RC LENS – AWAY SHIRT 2009/2010
Racing Club de Lens, commonly known as RC Lens or simply Lens, are a professional football club based in Lens in the Hauts‑de‑France region of northern France. Founded in 1906, the club has deep roots in the region’s industrial tradition and is renowned for its passionate support. Lens play their home matches at the Stade Bollaert‑Delelis. The club’s honours include one Ligue 1 title (1997/98), a Coupe de la Ligue, and multiple Ligue 2 championships.
During the 2009/2010 season, Lens wore this sky blue away shirt while competing in Ligue 1, having been promoted as Ligue 2 champions at the end of the previous campaign. It was their first season back in France’s top flight after one year in Ligue 2. Lens secured a mid‑table finish (11th place) with 48 points, marking a solid campaign in Ligue 1. Unfortunately, it didn't last and Lens were relegated in the following season.
In cup competitions, Lens reached the semi‑finals of the Coupe de France, where they were eliminated by AS Monaco, and progressed to the Round of 16 in the Coupe de la Ligue before losing to Lorient 1-0.
On the goalscoring front, Toifilou Maoulida was Lens’ leading scorer in the league with 10 goals. Another interesting name that was part of the squad was a young Serge Aurier.
