Marseille 2008/2009 Third Shirt

OLYMPIQUE DE MARSEILLE – THIRD SHIRT 2008/2009

Marseille is one of France’s heavyweight clubs based in the south of the country. They have spent most of their history in Ligue 1, with 11 French titles, ten Coupe de France wins and three Coupes de la Ligue. They were also the inaugural winners of the Champions League in 1993 (beating Milan 1-0).

They play their matches at the atmospheric Stade Velodrome.

The club wore this gold third shirt in the 2008/2009 season as they finished 2nd in Ligue 1, three points behind winners Bordeaux, under the stewardship of Belgian manager Eric Gerets.

The shirt was also worn in the Champions League when the team finished 3rd in a tough group, containing both Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Marseille then switched to the UEFA Cup where they made it to the Quarter-Finals before losing to eventual winners Shakhtar Donetsk.
