NORWAY – HOME SHIRT 2016
Norway, also known as Løvene (The Lions), are the nation’s football team, representing a country with a proud history and a growing reputation in Europe.
This upcoming World Cup will be the country’s first since 1998, when they reached the Round of 16 before being knocked out by Italy. That era was shaped by key figures such as Ole Gunnar Solskjær, John Arne Riise, and three members of the Flo family - Jostein, Håvard, and Tore André Flo - who were brothers and cousins and all played pivotal roles in establishing Norway as a competitive European side.
In 2016, Norway wore this classic red home shirt during their EURO 2016 qualifiers, where they narrowly missed out on qualification, finishing behind Italy and Croatia.
As of 2026, Norway’s football fortunes have improved dramatically. They finished top of UEFA Group I in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, winning all eight matches - including two victories against Italy - and securing their place at the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1998. Norway scored 37 goals and conceded just five across qualification, with Erling Haaland netting 16 times, equalling the European qualifying scoring record. Much of the excitement around Norway’s future is driven by the potential of Martin Ødegaard, Erling Haaland, and Antonio Nusa, among others, whose talent and promise have already helped Norway reach their first major tournament since 2000.
At the World Cup, Norway face a challenging path. Drawn into a tough group featuring France, Senegal, and the winners of the CONCACAF playoff path 2, they will need to be at their very best to advance to the knockout stages - but they will certainly be considered one of the tournament’s dark horses.
