RAYO VALLECANO - HOME SHIRT 2017/2018

Rayo Vallecano de Madrid are a Spanish football club founded in 1924 and based in the working-class Vallecas district of south-east Madrid. Known to fans as Los Franjirrojos ("The Red Stripes") for their iconic white shirts adorned with a single diagonal red sash, Rayo play their home matches at the historic Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas - a tight, atmospheric ground that has hosted the club for the better part of a century. Long the third club of the Spanish capital behind Real Madrid and Atlético, Rayo carry a famously passionate, politically engaged fanbase and a reputation for punching above their weight when at the top table.

The 2017/2018 campaign - during which this striking home shirt was worn - was the club's 93rd season and one of its most memorable in recent memory. Under manager Míchel, the former Real Madrid and Spain international, Los Franjirrojos stormed Segunda División for the title - finishing top with 76 points (W21 D13 L8) and securing promotion back to La Liga with a 1-0 home win over Lugo on the penultimate matchday.

The season's standout performer was Raúl de Tomás, the Real Madrid loanee who exploded as the league's revelation with 24 Segunda División goals across the campaign. Argentine forward Óscar Trejo, a free signing from Toulouse, chipped in with 12 as the new club talisman, while Adri Embarba's eight from wide added the polish. In midfield, Athletic Bilbao loanee Unai López and academy products Fran Beltrán and Santi Comesaña established themselves as regulars, while veteran goalkeeper Alberto García - on loan from Getafe - played every minute of the league campaign.
