REAL MADRID – AWAY SHIRT 2017/2018
Real Madrid, commonly known as Los Blancos ("The Whites"), are a professional football club based in Madrid, Spain, competing in La Liga, Spain's top division. Founded in 1902, Real Madrid are the most successful club in the history of the UEFA Champions League and one of the most storied institutions in world football. Their honours include a record number of Champions League titles, numerous La Liga championships, and a collection of domestic cups that cement their status as the defining club of the modern European era.
Real Madrid's relationship with Adidas is one of the most iconic manufacturer partnerships in football, with the German sportswear brand supplying the club's kits for decades. Adidas has been central to Madrid's visual identity, producing some of the most recognisable shirts in world football — including this striking 2017/2018 away shirt, worn during one of the most historic campaigns in the club's illustrious history.
The 2017/2018 season was Zinedine Zidane's third at the helm, and it produced something the football world had never seen before. Real Madrid became the first club in the history of the UEFA Champions League to claim a third consecutive European crown, following on from their 2016 and 2017 triumphs. This is a feat widely regarded as one of the greatest achievement in the history of club football.
In La Liga, Madrid finished third behind champions Barcelona, but their domestic campaign was largely overshadowed by European brilliance. Cristiano Ronaldo led the scoring charts in what would prove to be his final season at the club before departing for Juventus that summer, bringing the curtain down on a nine-year stint in which he scored 450 goals in 438 appearances. He was supported by Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, and Isco, while Luka Modrić pulled the strings in midfield in a season that would earn him the Ballon d'Or - the first player in over a decade to claim the award ahead of both Ronaldo and Messi.
In the Champions League final, held in Kyiv, Ukraine, Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 3–1. Karim Benzema opened the scoring before Gareth Bale, introduced as a substitute, produced one of the greatest individual performances in final history - scoring twice, including a sensational overhead kick that effectively settled the tie. It was a record extending thirteenth European Cup for Real Madrid.
