ADANA DEMIRSPOR – THIRD SHIRT 2022/2023

Adana Demirspor is a Turkish football club founded in 1940 by workers of the Turkish State Railways. Based in the southern city of Adana, the club is affectionately known as The Blue Lightnings. They play their home matches at the striking New Adana Stadium - a modern arena that finally opened after years of construction delays, and one that’s well worth checking out for its impressive design and atmosphere!

In January 2024, FIFA imposed a three-transfer-window ban on the club due to unpaid debts. The ruling triggered a turbulent period for Demirspor, with several key players departing before the end of the season. Their struggles came to a head in March 2025, when the team was mathematically relegated to the TFF 1. Lig following a 12-point deduction. The campaign was controversial, including the infamous incident on the 16th of March 2025 when Demirspor abandoned a match against Galatasaray after a contentious penalty decision.

Unfortunately, the difficulties have continued into the 2025/2026 season, with the club hit by a further 18-point deduction. After 12 matches, they sit on -17 points, facing an almost impossible task to stay up.

During the 2022/2023 season - when they wore this graphic third kit with some lightning detail - Adana Demirspor enjoyed their best-ever Süper Lig finish, ending the campaign in an impressive 4th place, just behind Turkish giants Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Beşiktaş. Moroccan playmaker Younès Belhanda was the star of the season, leading both the goals and assists charts with 12 goals and 7 assists. The Blue Lightnings will be eager to recapture those heights and restore their place near Turkey’s elite.
