DEPORTIVO MANDIYU – AWAY SHIRT 2021/2022

Club Deportivo Mandiyú is an Argentine club based in the northern city of
Corrientes.

The club currently compete in the fourth tier of football in Argentina, the Torneo
Regional Federal Amateur League. This is a fall from grace as Mandiyú made it all the way to Argentina’s Primera División in 1988.

The club were founded in 1952 by workers of the Tipoiti textile factory. The league didn’t allow clubs named after commercial companies, so they used the term Mandiyú which means cotton in the Guarani indigenous language.

Diego Maradona managed the club for a short period in the 1990’s and this commemorative away shirt was worn by the team to celebrate his life after his passing in the 2021/2022 season – a successful one for the club who won the regional Correntina title.

The club play home matches at the Estadio José Antonio Romero Feris which is owned by rivals Huracán Corrientes.
