Kardemir Karabukspor 2018/2019 Away Shirt

KARDEMIR KARABUKSPOR - AWAY SHIRT 2018-2019

Kardemir Karabukspor was a Turkish professional football club based in the northern city of Karabuk. The club’s nickname, Mavi Ates, translates to ‘Blue Flame’; based on the blue flames of chimneys from the Kardemir iron-steel works in the city. The club took their name from the factory and was regarded as a blue collar worker’s club.

This shirt was worn by the club in the 2018/2019 season, as the club found themselves relegated for the second season in a row, sliding from the top flight in 17/18 down to the third tier. These relegations and looming financial issues screated a vicious cycle for the Blue Flame, which ultimately ended in the club’s dissolution in 2021/2022. 

Good news however, the club’s fans and stakeholders banded together to create a phoenix club, and so Karabuk Idman Yurdu was founded. KIY play home matches in the same stadium as their predecessors, the 11,378 capacity Dr. Necmettin Seyhoglu Stadium, and they wear the same club colours!
