NETHERLANDS - HOME SHIRT 2012
The Netherlands national team are one of international football's most iconic sides, representing a nation whose Total Football philosophy reshaped the modern game. Affectionately known as Oranje, the Dutch are three-time FIFA World Cup runners-up (1974, 1978, 2010), European champions at Euro 1988, and a side whose orange-clad supporters have followed them across the globe since 1905.
This legacy has been shaped by legendary figures such as Johan Cruyff, Ruud Gullit, Marco van Basten and Robin van Persie, whose brilliance has defined Dutch football across generations.
The Netherlands wore this striking home shirt at UEFA Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine under manager Bert van Marwijk - a tournament that proved a deeply painful reckoning for the 2010 World Cup finalists. Drawn into a brutal Group B with Germany, Portugal and Denmark, Oranje suffered a stunning 1-0 opening defeat to Michael Krohn-Dehli's Denmark in Kharkiv before a 2-1 reverse against Germany, in which Mario Gomez scored twice and Robin van Persie pulled one back. The final group game against Portugal then went 2-1 to the Portuguese, Cristiano Ronaldo grabbing a brace after Rafael van der Vaart had opened the scoring. The Dutch finished rock bottom of the group with zero points, and Van Marwijk resigned shortly after - a stark fall from World Cup runners-up just two years earlier.
As of 2026, the Netherlands are heading to the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, having sealed qualification in November 2025 and been drawn into Group F alongside Japan, Sweden and Tunisia. With a squad led by Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, Real Madrid wing-back Denzel Dumfries and forwards Memphis Depay and Cody Gakpo, Oranje travel to North America under returning manager Ronald Koeman, hunting the global title that has eluded them time and time again.
