NEWPORT COUNTY AFC – AWAY SHIRT 2020/2021

Newport County is a professional football club from the city of Newport in South Wales. The Exiles play home matches at Rodney Parade which holds just under 8,000 fans.

The club won the Welsh Cup in 1979/80 and as such qualified for the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup where they reached the quarter final (remarkable for a lower level team).

Newport struggled financially in the 1980’s and eventually went out of business in 1989. The club reformed but couldn’t play at their old ground (Somerton Park) and so called themselves The Exiles!

They eventually returned to the football league in 2013 after winning the Conference National play-off final.

The club wore this away shirt in the 2020/2021 season, where The Exiles finished 5th in League Two under the management of Michael Flynn. This qualified Newport for the promotion playoffs where they defeated Forest Green Rovers in the semi-final but ultimately fell at the final hurdle after losing to Morecambe in the final at Wembley.
