PLYMOUTH ARGYLE - THIRD SHIRT 2025/2026
Plymouth Argyle are a professional football club based in Plymouth on England's south-west coast, founded in 1886 and at Home Park since 1901. Known as The Pilgrims - a nickname borrowed from the Pilgrim Fathers, who set sail from Plymouth for the New World in 1620 - they have worn green for most of their existence, the distinctive Argyle green was re-adopted as the club's signature shade in 2001/2002.
The 2025/2026 campaign, in which this unique third shirt was worn, was the Pilgrims' first back in League One after relegation from the Championship. Tom Cleverley was appointed in June for his first managerial post on a three-year contract; a slow start of sixteen points from his opening eighteen games gave way to a thirty-six-point return from the next eighteen, promotion form arriving too late. The surge earned Cleverley the League One Manager of the Month award for March, but Argyle ultimately finished 8th, narrowly missing the play-offs.

Domestic cup competitions provided some moments of respite. The Carabao Cup yielded a thrilling 3-2 home win over Championship side QPR in the first round, before a 1-1 draw at Swansea ended 5-3 on penalties in the second. The FA Cup ended at the first hurdle with a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers.
Striker Lorent Tolaj finished as Plymouth's top scorer with 18 League One goals, with strike partner Aribim Pepple a close second on 16.
