Ay-Yildizlilar (The Crescent Stars) are currently ranked 40th in the FIFA world rankings. They rose as high as 5th in 2004.

This home shirt was worn as Turkiye successfully qualified for EURO 2008 in Switzerland and Austria. They came 2nd in qualifying group C with Greece topping the section.
Turkey pipped Norway to qualification by one point, the 2-1 win in Oslo proving decisive.

In the Euros the Turks did extremely well, reaching the semi-finals before losing bravely to Germany, 3-2.
