TURKEY – HOME SHIRT 2016
Turkey’s national team represents a nation with a rich footballing heritage and a reputation for producing technically gifted and passionate players. Building on decades of development, they have remained a competitive side in European football, regularly challenging for qualification to major tournaments.
This era has been shaped by key figures such as Arda Turan, Burak Yılmaz, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Nuri Şahin and Volkan Babacan, who played key roles in maintaining Turkey’s presence on the international stage.
In 2016, Turkey wore a bold red home shirt, featuring black detailing.
However, their path to the tournament proved challenging. At EURO 2016, Turkey struggled to find consistency and were eliminated at the group stage, despite securing a win against the Czech Republic.
As of 2026, Turkey remain in contention for a place at the FIFA World Cup, having secured a spot in the European qualifying playoffs. They will need to navigate a difficult path against strong opposition, but with a blend of experienced players and emerging talent, they will believe they have a strong chance of reaching the tournament. To do so, they must first overcome Romania, before facing either Slovakia or Kosovo for a place at the 2026 World Cup - so it certainly won’t be straightforward, but being the highest ranking side out of the 4, they will fancy their chances!
Even if they fail to qualify for World Cup 2026, Turkey have been named as a co-host for Euro 2032 and will qualify automatically as a result. With a golden generation coming through with youngsters like Arda Guler and Kenan Yildiz - who ought to be peaking around this time - Turkey fans will be looking forward to this one.
