UKRAINE – HOME SHIRT 2012

Ukraine’s national team represents a nation with a proud footballing history, having competed independently since the early 1990s following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Since then, they have established themselves as a competitive force in European football, highlighted by their impressive run to the quarter-finals of the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

This progress has been driven by key figures such as Andriy Shevchenko, Andriy Yarmolenko, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Serhiy Rebrov and Ruslan Rotan, who have played vital roles in shaping Ukraine’s presence on the international stage.

In 2012, Ukraine wore a bold yellow home shirt, featuring subtle blue detailing in keeping with the national colours.

However, their path in the tournament proved challenging. As co-hosts of EURO 2012, Ukraine showed moments of promise but ultimately fell short, exiting at the group stage after facing strong opposition in England, France and Sweden.

As of 2026, Ukraine remain in contention for a place at the FIFA World Cup, having secured a spot in the European qualifying playoffs. They will need to navigate a difficult path against strong opposition, but with a blend of experienced players and emerging talent, they will believe they have a genuine chance of reaching the tournament. To do so, they must first overcome Sweden, before facing either Poland or Albania for a place at the 2026 World Cup - so it certainly won’t be straightforward but definitely achievable!
