WERDER BREMEN – HOME SHIRT 2019/2020
Werder Bremen are based in the northern German city of Bremen and are widely regarded as one of the country’s most historic clubs. They share the record for the most seasons played in the Bundesliga and have enjoyed significant success, winning four league titles and six DFB-Pokal trophies. The club plays its home matches at the iconic Weserstadion, located along the River Weser.
The 2019/2020 home shirt stayed true to Bremen’s traditional identity, featuring the club’s classic green and white colours with a clean, modern design. Worn throughout a challenging campaign, the shirt became associated with a season that tested the resilience of Die Werderaner (“The River Islanders”).
Bremen struggled for consistency during the season and found themselves battling near the bottom of the table for much of the campaign. Defensive issues and injuries played a major role, leaving the team in a precarious position as the season progressed. However, following the restart after the COVID-19 suspension, Bremen showed renewed determination in their fight for survival.
A crucial late run of results helped the club climb out of the automatic relegation places, ultimately finishing 16th and securing a spot in the relegation play-off. There, Bremen narrowly preserved their Bundesliga status on away goals, extending their long-standing presence in Germany’s top flight - at least for another season.
