WERDER BREMEN – GOALKEEPER SHIRT 2020/2021

Werder Bremen are based in the northern German city of Bremen and are regarded as one of the country’s most historic clubs. They hold the record for the most seasons played in the Bundesliga (tied with Bayern Munich) and have enjoyed notable success, winning four league titles and six DFB-Pokal trophies. The club plays at the well-known Weserstadion, situated along the River Weser.

This goalkeeper shirt was worn primarily by first-choice keeper Jiří Pavlenka during a turbulent campaign for Die Werderaner (“The River Islanders”), as the team struggled defensively and faced constant pressure throughout the season.

Despite efforts between the posts, including 2 penalty saves, Bremen endured a difficult year and ultimately finished 17th in the Bundesliga. This result confirmed relegation and brought an end to the club’s remarkable 40-year run in Germany’s top flight - one of the longest unbroken spells in league history.

Bremen bounced back in the following season by gaining automatic promotion back to the top flight of German football.
