THE CLUB WITH THE CRAZIEST SHIRTS - FORWARD MADISON FC
At Surprise Shirts, we absolutely love a football shirt with a loud and unique design. Some clubs produce insane shirts every once in a while, but when it comes to consistently providing bangers, one club takes the cake.
That club is of course, Forward Madison FC. Let's take a deeper dive into the jerseys of this Surprise Shirts favourite.
FMFC’s inaugural season came in 2019, with the side becoming Wisconsin’s only professional club. Their first ever third shirt set the tone as to what was to come. Crazy designs, bold colours & a whole lot of fun! PS - hummel, we love you.
2020 saw the launch arguably one of the craziest shirts ever released – FMFC’s DripKit. The shirt understandably gained huge traction within the football shirt community & wider football world; just look at it! This beauty is about as Surprise Shirts as it gets.
We’re sure you’ve heard of this one! Forward Madison’s 2021 3rd kit, dubbed the ‘Friends With Benefits’ shirt allowed fans to buy a beer for someone at FMFC’s home ground, Breese Stevens Field, by scanning a QR code. Such a unique initiative - genius!
Madison got things going for the new campaign, releasing their 2023 away jersey – the ‘Smoky Sunset’.
“The Smoky Sunset Kit represents a sunset over Breese Stevens Field and the smoke that rises from the Flock End after a Forward Madison goal.” Yet another stunner from our 2nd favourite team.
An honourable mention must go to some of the club’s pre match designs. They've had some incredible efforts for some incredible initiatives, such as support for Ukraine & LGBTQ+ Pride. They also had one inspired by a lava lamp (we're not sure why either but the design is great).
In 2021, club Chief Operating Officer Conor Caloia stated that 20% of the club’s revenue comes from merchandise, compared to 8-10% for most clubs in the USL. It’s obvious why!
