FC GOA – THIRD SHIRT 2025/2026
FC Goa is a professional football club based in Fatorda, Goa, competing in the Indian Super League (ISL). FC Goa play their home matches at the Fatorda Stadium in Margao, which has a capacity of around 19,000. Founded on 26 August 2014, the club is affectionately known as The Gaurs. Despite being a newly formed side at the time, the club quickly made headlines by attracting big names such as Brazilian legends Zico and Lúcio, along with Arsenal icon Robert Pirès. Zico coached the club to 2nd in their first season.
Over the years, FC Goa have established themselves as one of the most successful teams in ISL history, becoming the first ISL club to qualify for the AFC Champions League Elite.
Interestingly, former Indian cricket captain, Virat Kohli, is one of the club’s owners with a 12% stake.
While their ISL campaign has yet to kick off, the Gaurs have already been in action in the AFC Champions League, where they faced Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in Group D, suffering defeats in both matches.
Goa won't be too disheartened though, as success was never really on the cards in this competition. They will see the continental competition as valuable preparation ahead of the new Indian Super League season, where they’ll be determined to go one better than their second-place finish in 2024/2025.
