Carlisle United Football Club is a professional association football club based in Carlisle, Cumbria, England. The team currently competes in the National League, the fifth tier of the English football league system.

They have played their home games at Brunton Park since 1909. The club's traditional kit is blue with white and red detailing, while the badge incorporates elements from the city's coat of arms, including two Wyverns. They are nicknamed the "Blues" due to their kit, as well as the "Cumbrians". The club is also the closest English professional football club to Scotland.

This unique away shirt was worn during the 2024/2025 season, in which they finished 23rd in League Two and were subsequently relegated to the National League for the 2025/2026 campaign. It proved to be a very difficult season for the club, scoring the fourth-fewest goals in the division with just 44 in 46 games, while also conceding the third-most in the league.

Matthew Dennis was perhaps their standout player and finished as the Blues’ top scorer, earning himself a move to Notts County, where his goals have been crucial in their push for promotion to League One this season.

As of 2026, Carlisle are vying for promotion back to the Football League and currently sit 3rd in the National League. Automatic promotion is out of reach, meaning they'll have to win the playoffs to secure their place back in the 92.
