FC DALLAS - HOME SHIRT 2024
FC Dallas are a Major League Soccer club based in Frisco, Texas. Originally established in 1996 as the Dallas Burn - one of the original ten franchises that launched MLS - they were rebranded to FC Dallas in 2005 ahead of moving into their purpose-built home, Toyota Stadium. Affectionately known as the Hoops for their iconic red-and-white-striped home kit, FC Dallas have built a reputation as one of the most consistent producers of homegrown talent in American soccer.
The 2024 campaign, in which this uniquely striped home shirt was worn, was a difficult one for the Hoops. Spanish head coach Nico Estévez was dismissed in June following a poor start to the season, with assistant Peter Luccin appointed interim head coach for the remainder of the year. Under their combined tenures, FC Dallas finished 11th in the Western Conference with 41 points from 34 matches (11W-8D-15L) - well below the playoffs.
There were modest highlights amid the inconsistency. Croatian striker Petar Musa, signed from Benfica in early 2024 as a club-record acquisition, justified the investment by finishing as the team's top scorer with 16 league goals in 30 appearances. Veterans Asier Illarremendi and Paul Arriola contributed throughout, but defensive frailty - 56 goals conceded - and inconsistency away from home - the second worst record in the entire 29 team league - defined the year.
It was the kind of transitional season that asks more questions than it answers, with the club entering 2025 needing to rebuild around Musa and a permanent head coach and, as it turned out, 2025 was a much improved season.
