FC DEN BOSCH - HOME SHIRT 2004/2005

FC Den Bosch were founded on 18 August 1965 in 's-Hertogenbosch in the southern Netherlands, successors to the old BVV club. They are nicknamed de blauwwitte draken (the Blue-White Dragons) and play at De Vliert, a compact ground holding around 6,900. Their standout piece of trivia is a golden one: a young Ruud van Nistelrooy began his professional career here in the 1990s before his moves to Heerenveen, PSV and Manchester United.

The 2004/2005 season, during which this striking home shirt was worn, was a top-flight campaign to forget. Having won the 2003/2004 Eerste Divisie title to earn promotion, Den Bosch finished rock bottom of the Eredivisie in 18th place with just 19 points (5 wins, 4 draws, 25 defeats). They scored only 23 goals, the fewest in the league, while conceding 75. Manager Henk Wisman could not stop the slide, and a caretaker trio saw out a season that ended in relegation.

The one bright spell came in the KNVB Cup, where Den Bosch enjoyed a decent run to the quarter-finals before bowing out, a welcome distraction from a league season spent almost entirely in the bottom two.

Attacking midfielder Koen van de Laak top-scored with just 6 goals, a modest tally that summed up a blunt attack. There was one unexpected positive off the pitch: home attendances jumped by around 56% to average 5,855 at De Vliert, as the novelty of Eredivisie football briefly brought the crowds back to 's-Hertogenbosch.
