GERMANY – HOME SHIRT 2010
Germany’s national team are one of international football’s true giants, representing a nation with an unparalleled footballing pedigree. Die Mannschaft have consistently set the benchmark on the world stage, winning four FIFA World Cups (1954, 1974, 1990, 2014) and three UEFA European Championships (1972, 1980, 1996).
This formidable legacy has been shaped by legendary figures such as Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Lothar Matthäus, Oliver Kahn, and Miroslav Klose. Klose remains the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history, while Matthäus holds the record for most minutes played in the tournament. Beckenbauer, arguably the nation’s most iconic football figure, famously lifted the World Cup both as a player and later as a manager, cementing his place in football history.
Building on the renewed belief sparked by the 2006 World Cup on home soil, Germany entered the new decade with a vibrant, youthful core and a clear footballing identity under Joachim Löw.
Germany took to the pitch in this traditional home shirt during their 2010 campaign, wearing it at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Arriving with a squad blending experience and exciting young talent - including Thomas Müller, Mesut Özil, Manuel Neuer, and Sami Khedira - expectations were cautiously optimistic, yet few predicted the scale of their impact.
The 2010 World Cup proved to be a statement of intent. Germany topped their group before infamously dismantling England 4–1 in the Round of 16 after Frank Lampard's "ghost goal". They went on to produce a stunning 4–0 victory over Argentina in the quarter-finals. Their thrilling run was eventually halted by Spain in a tightly contested semi-final, but a 3–2 win over Uruguay secured a third-place finish for the second consecutive tournament, confirming Germany’s status as one of world football’s most exciting sides.
As of 2026, Germany have already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup and have been drawn into a group alongside Curacao, Ivory Coast, and Ecuador. Die Mannschaft will be aiming to assert their authority from the outset and set themselves up for a deep run in North America, led by players such as Nico Schlotterbeck, Florian Wirtz, and Joshua Kimmich.
