1. FC KAISERSLAUTERN – AWAY SHIRT 2014/2015
1. FC Kaiserslautern is a historic German sports club based in Kaiserslautern, Rhineland-Palatinate. Founded on 2 June 1900, the club boasts well over a century of footballing tradition. They play their home matches at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion, which holds 49,327 spectators and is named in honour of club legend Fritz Walter, captain of West Germany’s 1954 World Cup-winning side.
Kaiserslautern were among the founding members of the Bundesliga in 1963 and remained a top-flight mainstay until 1996. Over the years, they have won four German championships, two DFB-Pokals, and one DFL-Supercup, cementing their place among Germany’s most respected clubs.
On the European stage, Kaiserslautern reached the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in 1999 and also made two UEFA Cup semi-final appearances. The club holds a unique record in German football history: they are the only team to win the Bundesliga as a newly promoted side, achieving this remarkable feat in the 1997/1998 season.
The 2014/2015 campaign saw Kaiserslautern competing in the 2. Bundesliga as they pushed for a return to the top flight. Under head coach Kosta Runjaić, the team produced a strong and consistent season, ultimately finishing 4th - just outside the promotion places.
This away shirt was worn during a campaign defined by resilience and fine margins. Kaiserslautern scored 45 league goals, with striker Philipp Hofmann finishing as the club’s top scorer with six. While not a prolific tally, it reflected a side that shared goals across the squad rather than relying on a single focal point.
One of the standout performers, however, was Willi Orbán. The defender contributed crucial goals from the back - finishing just two behind top scorer Hofmann - and his performances earned him a move to RB Leipzig, where he has since become a key figure in their rise in both German and European football.
