LOMMEL - HOME SHIRT 2021/2022

Lommel SK - officially Lommel Sportkring - are a Belgian professional football club based in the industrial town of Lommel in the province of Limburg. Founded in 1932 and reformed through a 2003 merger of local rivals Overpelt-Fabriek and KFC Lommel SK, the club play their home matches at the 8,000-capacity Soevereinstadion. Lommel are best known in modern football as the ninth club to be acquired by the City Football Group, the Manchester City-owned global network of clubs, purchased by CFG in May 2020 as a European development hub for the group's brightest young talents.

The 2021/2022 campaign - during which this striking home shirt was worn - was the club's second season under City Football Group ownership and their first full year in the newly-formed Belgian First Division B (the country's second tier). It also proved to be one of the most turbulent managerial seasons in the club's recent history. Just five days before the opening fixture against Waasland-Beveren, head coach Liam Manning departed to take charge of MK Dons in England, leaving the club scrambling to appoint Dutchman Peter van der Veen as an emergency replacement.

Van der Veen resigned in mid-December 2021 with results struggling, and short-lived caretaker Luiz Felipe held the reins for barely three weeks before English coach Brian Eastick was appointed on 16 February 2022 to see out the season. Eastick steadied the Lommel ship and led them to a mid-table 6th-place finish in an eight-team division, as Westerlo swept to the title and promotion to the Belgian Pro League.
