OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS – AWAY SHIRT 2015/2016

Olympique Lyonnais, commonly known as Lyon or OL, are one of France’s most successful modern‑era clubs, based in the city of Lyon in eastern France. Founded in 1950, the club rose to prominence during the 2000s, winning seven consecutive Ligue 1 titles between 2002 and 2008 - a run that accounts for all of the club’s league championships. In addition, Lyon have lifted five Coupe de France trophies and one Coupe de la Ligue.

During the 2015/2016 season, Lyon wore this classic away shirt, manufactured by adidas as part of the club’s ongoing partnership with the German brand. Home matches were played at the historic Stade de Gerland early in the season, before the club inaugurated their new home, the Groupama Stadium in January 2016. 

Under manager Bruno Génésio, the 2015/2016 campaign was a strong one for Lyon. OL finished 2nd in Ligue 1, their best league placing since the mid‑2000s, securing Champions League qualification for the following season. Alexandre Lacazette was the driving force, finishing as both Lyon’s top scorer in Ligue 1 with 21 goals and their overall top scorer with 23 goals across all competitions, demonstrating his continued development into one of Ligue 1’s most potent forwards. The season also saw further contributions from Nabil Fekir, who was becoming a central creative presence in the squad, linking midfield and attack with growing influence.

Cup competitions delivered mixed fortunes. In the Coupe de France, Lyon reached the Round of 16 before being eliminated, while in the Coupe de la Ligue, OL progressed to the quarter‑finals.

In European competition, Lyon competed in the UEFA Champions League group stage, but were unable to advance to the knockout rounds, exiting at the group phase of continental play.
