PARIS ST. GERMAIN - AWAY SHIRT 2010/2011
Paris Saint-Germain, or PSG for short, is a professional football club based in Paris, France. Although the club was founded relatively recently in 1970, it quickly established itself as France’s most successful team. PSG are affectionately known as Les Parisiens or Rouge et Bleu (“Reds and Blues”). Their home ground, the Parc des Princes, also serves as a venue for the French national rugby union team.
The 2010/2011 season, during which this classy away shirt was worn, marked PSG’s 38th professional season. Under the guidance of former PSG player Antoine Kombouaré, the team finished 4th in Ligue 1 - a result that, by today’s standards, would be considered a disappointment and highlights just how far the club has risen in a relatively short period.
It was a season of near-misses for PSG. They finished runners-up in both the Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions, and reached the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue. Their Europa League campaign ended in the Round of 16, where they were eliminated by Portuguese giants Benfica.
Brazilian forward Nenê was PSG’s top scorer in the league, netting 14 goals in that sphere, but finished with 20 goals in all competitions - a tally matched by Guillaume Hoarau, who would later become a BSC Young Boys legend.
