SC CAMBUUR – THIRD SHIRT 2010/2011
Sportclub Cambuur, most commonly known as SC Cambuur, are a professional football club based in Leeuwarden, the capital of the Dutch province of Friesland. Founded in 1964, the club currently compete in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football, and play their home matches at the Cambuur Stadion. Cambuur have just got promoted back to the the Eredivise for the first time since 2022/2023.
Their traditional colours of yellow and blue are drawn from the coat of arms of the historic Cammingha family, whose heraldic stag also features prominently in the club's identity and features on the badge. The club contest the Friese Derby against neighbouring SC Heerenveen.
This cracking third shirt was manufactured by Masita and worn in the 2010/2011 campaign, which was one of upheaval in the dugout. Stanley Menzo, who had guided the club to back-to-back top 3 finishes, departed mid-season to take up an assistant coaching role at Vitesse, with assistant Alfons Arts stepping up on an interim basis.
In January 2011, Arts was joined by Henk de Jong and the pair steadied the ship considerably as Cambuur finished a respectable fifth in the Eerste Divisie - a creditable result, particularly given that the club were deducted three points during the campaign for financial irregularities.
5th meant they had reached the promotion play-offs, where they faced FC Zwolle. After winning the home leg, Cambuur were beaten by the same scoreline away from home. As a result, the match ended up going to a penalty shootout, which they lost 7–6.
