SOUTH KOREA – AWAY SHIRT 2024
The Korea Republic national football team, known as the Taeguk Warriors, represent South Korea in international competition under the governance of the Korea Football Association (KFA). One of the most successful football nations in Asia, South Korea have qualified for every FIFA World Cup since 1986 - an unbroken run of ten consecutive tournaments - and memorably reached the semi-finals when co-hosting with Japan in 2002. They compete in the AFC Asian qualifiers from their base in Seoul and are captained by Son Heung-min, one of the most celebrated Asian footballers in the history of the game.
South Korea's kits are manufactured by Nike, and the 2024 away shirt is one of the most visually striking international kits of its generation. Built on a deep black base, the shirt is accented with splashes of colour in a psychedelic pattern - a design inspired by Korea's tradition of pearl lacquerware, which is an intricate artform.
The shirt was worn through a period of considerable change for Korean football. Jürgen Klinsmann was dismissed in February 2024 following a disappointing semi-final exit at the AFC Asian Cup. In July 2024, legendary former captain Hong Myung-bo was appointed as the new head coach, returning to the role a decade after his first and controversial stint following the 2014 World Cup.
On the pitch, the 2024 away shirt was worn predominantly through the second round of FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification, where South Korea were imperious. Son Heung-min led from the front in his customary fashion, reaching his 50th international goal from the penalty spot during a 3–1 victory in Kuwait. The Taeguk Warriors progressed from their qualifying group comfortably.
As of 2026, South Korea have qualified for the World Cup once again and find themselves drawn into what they will consider a favourable group. They open their campaign against Czech Republic, before facing Mexico, and then South Africa on 25 June. With a squad boasting high-profile names such as Kim Min-jae, Lee Kang-in, and captain Son Heung-min, the Taeguk Warriors will be targeting a deep run - and will be eager to improve on their Round of 16 exit at the previous tournament.
