Atlanta United FC is a professional soccer club based in Atlanta, Georgia, competing in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. Domestically, the club has won one MLS Cup, one U.S. Open Cup, one Eastern Conference Championship, and one Campeones Cup.
Founded in 2014, Atlanta United began playing as an MLS expansion team in 2017, becoming the league’s twenty-second team. The club is the first MLS franchise based in Atlanta and play their home games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which they share with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.
This stylish home shirt was worn by the team over two consecutive seasons. In 2023, Atlanta United reached the MLS playoffs after finishing 6th in the Eastern Conference, though they were eliminated in the first round. Giorgos Giakoumakis led the scoring with 19 goals, while Thiago Almada contributed 16 assists, showcasing his creativity.
The 2024 season was more challenging. The team finished 9th in the Eastern Conference and 20th overall in MLS. Saba Lobzhanidze was the top scorer, netting 9 league goals and 11 across all competitions. In cup competitions, Atlanta United reached the Conference Semifinals of the MLS Cup Playoffs and the Quarter-finals of the U.S. Open Cup, while exiting the Leagues Cup at the group stage.
Atlanta United does not currently field a women’s team, but they have been awarded an NWSL expansion franchise, set to join the league in the future.
