FC Bayern Munich, commonly known as Bayern Munich or Die Roten (“The Reds”), are a professional football club based in Munich, Bavaria, competing in the Bundesliga, Germany’s top division. Founded in 1900, Bayern are the most successful club in German football history and one of the most dominant sides in European football. Their honours include a record number of Bundesliga titles, numerous DFB-Pokal victories, and six UEFA Champions League trophies.
Bayern have one of the longest and most iconic manufacturer partnerships in world football, with Adidas supplying the club’s kits continuously since 1974. The Bavarian-based brand has been intrinsically linked with Bayern’s identity for decades, producing the club’s most recognisable and successful kits, including this classic 2013/2014 home shirt.
The 2013/2014 season marked the beginning of a new era, as Pep Guardiola took charge following Bayern’s historic treble-winning campaign the previous year. Bayern produced one of the most dominant domestic seasons in Bundesliga history. They finished 1st, amassing 90 points, scoring 94 goals, and conceding just 23, while clinching the league title with a then-record seven matches remaining.
In attack, Mario Mandžukić led the line superbly and finished as Bayern’s top scorer in the Bundesliga with 18 goals. He was supported by an exceptional group of attacking players, including Arjen Robben, Franck Ribéry, Thomas Müller, and Toni Kroos. Ribéry, in particular, enjoyed a standout individual campaign and finished third in the Ballon d’Or voting that year, behind winner Cristiano Ronaldo and runner-up Lionel Messi.
Bayern completed the domestic double by lifting the DFB-Pokal, defeating Borussia Dortmund 2–0 after extra time in the final at Berlin’s Olympiastadion. Goals from Robben and Müller secured the trophy.
In Europe, Bayern entered the UEFA Champions League as defending champions. They progressed to the semi-finals, where they were humiliated by Real Madrid, losing 5–0 on aggregate.
