BELGIUM – HOME SHIRT 2022

Belgium’s national team, known as the Red Devils, have established themselves as one of international football’s elite sides, particularly during their “golden generation” era. While historically not among the most decorated nations, Belgium rose to prominence in the 2010s thanks to an exceptional group of players competing at the very highest level of club football.

This era has been defined by world-class talents such as Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Vincent Kompany and Thibaut Courtois, who helped transform Belgium into consistent contenders at major tournaments.

Belgium began their World Cup campaign with a narrow victory over Canada but struggled to find form in the following matches. A defeat to Morocco and a draw against Croatia saw them eliminated at the group stage, marking a disappointing end to what was expected to be one final major tournament push for their golden generation.

The design of the 2022 home shirt featured Belgium’s traditional red base, enhanced by bold flame-inspired graphics along the sleeves in black and yellow, symbolising the team’s nickname, the Red Devils. The modern and striking aesthetic set it apart from previous kits while maintaining strong national identity.

As of 2026, Belgium are transitioning into a new era, with several key figures from that golden generation having moved on. However, they remain competitive on the international stage and a new wave of players such as Jérémy Doku, Senne Lammens, and Mika Godts have begun to emerge, offering fresh energy and promise for the future of the national team. The Red Devils have once again qualified for the World Cup and have been drawn into a favourable group featuring Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand.
