BURSASPOR - FOURTH SHIRT 2015/2016

Bursaspor were founded in 1963 in Bursa, the historic city in northwestern Turkey. Known affectionately as the Yesil Timsahlar (the Green Crocodiles) and the Yesil-Beyazlilar (the Green-Whites), they play their home football at the Timsah Arena. It is one of the most distinctive grounds in world football: the roof is built in the shape of a giant crocodile, jaws and all, a literal tribute to the club's beloved nickname.

The 2015/2016 season, during which this rare fourth shirt was worn, was a campaign of upheaval in the dugout. Bursaspor began the year under Ertugrul Saglam, who left by mutual agreement in late November with the side sitting 12th. His replacement was Hamza Hamzaoglu, who had lifted the Turkish title with Galatasaray only months earlier before being dismissed by the Istanbul giants that same November. Under the two of them, Bursaspor finished 11th in the Super Lig on 44 points.

The defining moment of the season came off the pitch. In December 2015 the club moved into their brand-new, crocodile-shaped Timsah Arena, with the opening ceremony a landmark day in the club's history. On the field, the highlights were a thumping 4-2 win over Trabzonspor and a 4-1 victory against Kasimpasa.

Czech striker Tomas Necid led the way with 11 league goals, among them a hat-trick in a thrilling 3-2 win over Caykur Rizespor in October 2015. Hungarian winger Balazs Dzsudzsak supplied the creativity from the flank, while young captain Serdar Aziz marshalled the defence before earning a move to Fenerbahce and the national team.
