CAPE VERDE – HOME SHIRT 2024

Cape Verde (Cabo Verde) is an archipelago nation in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa. A former Portuguese colony, it gained independence in 1975 and has a population of just under 525,000. The Cape Verde national team, nicknamed "The Blue Sharks," reached a highest-ever FIFA ranking of 27th in February 2014; as of 11 August 2026, they sit 64th globally. They're regular participants at the Africa Cup of Nations, having qualified in 2013, 2015, 2021, and 2023.

They wore this smart home shirt - featuring a map of the archipelago - at the 2023 AFCON tournament (played in early 2024), where they reached the quarter-finals before losing on penalties to South Africa following a 0–0 draw.

On 13 October 2025, Cape Verde made history by qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the first time ever, securing their spot with a 3–0 win over Eswatini. At the time, they became the second-smallest country by population ever to reach a men's World Cup finals, behind only Iceland.

Cape Verde went on to make history at the 2026 World Cup itself. They opened the tournament with a stunning 0–0 draw against reigning European champions Spain - who went on to win the whole competition - with veteran goalkeeper Vozinha earning global recognition for a heroic performance to keep the Spaniards out. They followed that with an equally impressive 2–2 draw against former world champions Uruguay, and needed just a point against Saudi Arabia to progress to the Round of 32, where they were drawn against reigning champions Argentina. Cape Verde remarkably came back from behind twice, ultimately losing 3–2 after extra time to a cruel own goal.
