CLERMONT FOOT - HOME SHIRT 2024/2025
The red and blue of Clermont Foot 63 belongs to Les Lanciers, The Lancers, the flagship club of Clermont-Ferrand in France's Auvergne. Tracing their roots to a first incarnation in 1911 and taking modern shape through a 1990 merger, they play at the Stade Gabriel-Montpied in the shadow of the volcanic Puy de Dome. For decades they were French football's great outsiders, until a fairytale 2021 promotion made them the first Auvergne club ever to reach Ligue 1, where they spent three memorable seasons before relegation in 2024.
Back in Ligue 2 for 2024/2025, life was tough. The dugout changed hands from Sebastien Bichard to Laurent Batlles during a stop-start campaign, and this classic red-and-blue home shirt was worn as Les Lanciers finished 16th of 18. With only 30 goals scored all season, every point had to be scrapped for in front of their loyal Montpied crowd.
The drama saved itself for the relegation play-off. Clermont went to Championnat National side Boulogne-sur-Mer and won 3-1, then survived a 2-1 home defeat in the return to stay up 4-3 on aggregate, avoiding back-to-back relegations by the finest of margins.
Up front the goals were shared thinly: Mons Bassouamina and Maidine Douane top-scored with 4 league goals apiece, with Famara Diedhiou and Henri Saivet contributing and goalkeeper Theo Guivarch a busy last line. A survival season to file away, but proof that Les Lanciers do not go down without a fight.
