COVENTRY CITY - AWAY SHIRT 2025/2026
Coventry City were founded in 1883 as Singers FC, named after the bicycle and car firm whose workers formed the club, and took their present name in 1898. They represent the city of Coventry in the West Midlands and are known to everyone as the Sky Blues for the shade that has defined them for generations. Since 2005 they have played at the Coventry Building Society Arena, having spent the previous 106 years at the much-loved Highfield Road. For all their history, the club's proudest day remains 16 May 1987, when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 after extra time at Wembley to lift the FA Cup, still their only major trophy.
The 2025/2026 season, during which this unique hot coral away shirt was worn, is one the Sky Blues faithful will never forget. Under Frank Lampard, Coventry were crowned Championship winners with 95 points, finishing eleven clear of second-placed Ipswich Town to seal automatic promotion and a return to the top flight for the first time since 2001, ending 25 years away. Lampard was named Championship Manager of the Season for his work.
It was a campaign built on relentless attacking football. Coventry were the division's highest scorers with 97 goals in 46 games, and at the halfway mark they had already racked up 51 points and 54 goals, becoming only the second side since 2004/2005, after Wolves in 2008/2009, to reach 50 points and 50 goals at that stage. The cup runs were brief, a third-round exit in the FA Cup and a second-round departure in the EFL Cup, but nobody minded with promotion on the horizon.
Haji Wright led the line superbly, finishing as the club's top league scorer with 17 goals, while at the other end Carl Rushworth was a wall between the posts with 17 clean sheets. That blend of goals and defensive steel was the story of the year, and this shirt is a piece of the season the city had waited a quarter of a century for.
