COVENTRY CITY - GOALKEEPER SHIRT 2025/2026
Coventry City were founded in 1883 as Singers FC, the team of a local bicycle works, and became Coventry City in 1898. Based in the West Midlands, they are known the world over as the Sky Blues, the identity given to them by Jimmy Hill during his transformative reign in the 1960s. They play at the Coventry Building Society Arena, their home since 2005 following more than a century at Highfield Road. The greatest day in the club's history arrived in 1987, when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 after extra time at Wembley to win the FA Cup, the only major honour in their history.
The 2025/2026 season, which this eye-catching goalkeeper shirt saw plenty of, was a landmark one. Frank Lampard guided Coventry to the Championship title with 95 points, eleven clear of runners-up Ipswich Town, earning automatic promotion and a first season in the top flight since 2001, a wait of 25 years.
Coventry played some of the most watchable football in the country. They were the division's top scorers with 97 goals across 46 games, opening the campaign with a 5-3 win at Derby and a 7-1 thrashing of QPR in their first two weeks. In the EFL Cup they went out in the second round, as promotion became the clear priority.
For a goalkeeper this was a season to savour. Carl Rushworth was outstanding between the sticks, playing every minute of all 46 league games and keeping a league-best 17 clean sheets that gave the free-scoring Sky Blues a defensive platform to match their attacking flair. At the other end Haji Wright top-scored with 17 league goals. This shirt was worn in the campaign that carried Coventry back to the Premier League.
