HANNOVER 96 – HOME SHIRT 2014/2015

Hannover 96 are a professional German club based in Lower Saxony. Known as Die Roten (“The Reds”), they play their home matches at the HDI-Arena, which holds just under 50,000 spectators. The club currently competes in the 2. Bundesliga, having spent 30 seasons in the top flight between 1964 and 2019.

Hannover have a proud history, winning the German championship twice (in 1938 and 1954) and famously lifting the DFB-Pokal in 1992 - becoming the first second-division side ever to win the trophy. They also hold three 2. Bundesliga titles and have twice reached the quarter-finals of European competitions: the 1992/1993 European Cup Winners’ Cup and the 2011/2012 UEFA Europa League.

This home shirt was worn in their 2014/2015 campaign, the 119th season in the club’s history. Despite a promising start, the season quickly deteriorated: from 22 November to 9 May, Hannover managed just 1 win in 21 matches. Relegation looked likely, but back-to-back victories to close the season secured a deceptively comfortable 13th-place finish - only three points above the drop.

Captain Lars Stindl led the scoring with 10 goals, while Joselu - on loan from Hoffenheim and later of Spanish giants Real Madrid (and Stoke City!) - followed closely with 8.
