HOFFENHEIM - AWAY SHIRT 2023/2024
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim were founded in 1899 and are based in the village of Hoffenheim, a district of Sinsheim in Baden-Wurttemberg. Known as Die Kraichgauer (The People of the Kraichgau), they play at the PreZero Arena, which holds a little over 30,000. Bankrolled by SAP co-founder Dietmar Hopp, the club climbed from the amateur leagues to reach the Bundesliga in 2008, making Hoffenheim one of the smallest communities ever to field a German top-flight side.
The 2023/2024 campaign, during which this smart away shirt was worn, was the club's 125th season and their 16th in a row in the Bundesliga. Under head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo, Hoffenheim finished 7th with 46 points from 34 games, doing enough to earn a place in the Europa League after Bayer Leverkusen's league and cup double freed up a European spot further down the table.
Their DFB-Pokal run was brief, seeing off lower-league opposition in the first round before losing 2-0 to Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park in the second. In the league it was a season of pure entertainment, with Hoffenheim scoring 66 goals and conceding exactly the same number, the campaign capped by a thrilling 4-2 win over Bayern Munich on the final day.
Maximilian Beier enjoyed a breakout year up top, his 16 Bundesliga goals earning a senior Germany call-up and a summer move to Borussia Dortmund. Andrej Kramaric, the club's all-time record scorer, weighed in with 15 league goals of his own and saved his best for last, helping himself to a hat-trick in that final-day rout of Bayern.
