İSTANBUL BAŞAKŞEHİR - CONFERENCE LEAGUE THIRD SHIRT 2025/2026
İstanbul Başakşehir are one of Turkish football's newer forces, founded in 1990 as the municipal club İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor and relaunched under their present name in 2014. Based in the Başakşehir district on the European side of Istanbul, they are known as the Turuncu-Lacivertliler (the Orange-and-Navy Blues) and the Boz Baykuşlar (the Grey Owls). They play at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium, a 17,800-seat arena opened in 2014 and named in honour of the legendary coach Fatih Terim.
This striking third shirt was worn on the European nights of the 2025/2026 season. Having qualified through their fifth-placed finish the season before, Başakşehir entered the Conference League in the qualifying rounds under Çağdaş Atan, seeing off Bulgaria's Cherno More and Norway's Viking to reach the play-off. Domestically it was a season of two halves: a dismal start brought just one win in the opening nine rounds and a slide to 16th in the Süper Lig, though Atan had already gone by then, leaving after the European exit and two opening league draws.
The European adventure ended in the play-off round, where Romania's Universitatea Craiova proved too strong. Başakşehir lost the home leg 2-1 and went down 5-2 on aggregate in Craiova, denied a place in the league phase. Former Borussia Dortmund boss Nuri Şahin arrived to replace Atan and steadied the ship superbly, guiding the club to a 5th-placed finish on 57 points from 34 games, winning 16 and losing only nine.
Uzbek striker Eldor Shomurodov was the star of the recovery, sharing the Süper Lig's top-scorer prize with 22 league goals and starting every one of the club's 34 league matches. Davie Selke chipped in with 10 of his own as Şahin turned a wretched opening into another strong European push. A fine shirt from a campaign that ended far better than it began.
