JAPAN WOMEN - TRAINING SHIRT 2026

Japan's women's national team, run by the Japan Football Association, are affectionately known as Nadeshiko Japan, after the yamato nadeshiko (an idealised, resilient Japanese woman). They remain Asia's standard-bearers in the women's game. Their crowning glory came in 2011, when they beat the United States on penalties in the final to become the first Asian team, men's or women's, to win a World Cup.

This striking training shirt belongs to a triumphant period. In March 2026, Japan won the AFC Women's Asian Cup, beating hosts Australia 1-0 in the final in Sydney through a 17th-minute goal from Maika Hamano, who was named player of the match. It was their third Asian title, sealed in front of a record Women's Asian Cup crowd of over 74,000.

The road there had included harder days. At the 2023 World Cup, Japan dazzled in the group stage but lost 2-1 to Sweden in the quarter-finals, Honoka Hayashi pulling one back late. At the Paris 2024 Olympics they again reached the quarter-finals before going out to the United States. The 2026 Asian Cup run restored them to the summit of Asian football.

Qualification for a tenth consecutive World Cup was secured along the way, including a thumping 7-0 win over the Philippines. Maika Hamano's winning goal and player-of-the-match display in the final marked her out as a face of the new Nadeshiko generation.
