TURKEY - HOME SHIRT 2020
Turkey's national team enjoyed their most success in the 2000s, most notably finishing third place at the 2002 World Cup and the 2003 Confederations Cup, and reaching the semi-finals at Euro 2008. They have only qualified for the FIFA World Cup three times (1950, 1954, and 2002).
The team have qualified for the Euros six times. Making their debut at Euro 1996, they reached the quarter-finals in Euro 2000 and semi-finals in Euro 2008. In recent years, Turkey have qualified for the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Euros, reaching the quarter-finals of the latter. They wore this home shirt when having a Euro 2020 campaign to forget. They finished bottom of their group, when tipped as dark horses for the tournament. They only managed 1 goal in 3 games and conceded 8.
As of 2026, Turkey are once again pushing to establish themselves on the international stage. After qualifying for Euro 2024 and reaching the knockout rounds, the national side has continued to build momentum with a new generation of talent.
They achieved qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup through the UEFA Playoffs. They first beat Romania 1-0 in the semi-final, which was followed by another 1-0 win in the final against Kosovo. This goal secured them their place at a World Cup for the first time in 22 years. They have been drawn in what they'll feel is a winnable group featuring the USA, Paraguay, and Australia.
Even if they fail to meet expectations, Turkey have been named as a co-host for Euro 2032 and will qualify automatically as a result. With a golden generation coming through with youngsters like Arda Guler and Kenan Yildiz - who ought to be peaking around this time - Turkey fans will be looking forward to this one.
